Creator rates in India · 2026

What creators in India charge

Out of Context Marketing holds data on more than 4 lakh creators. We looked at the rates creators set for themselves on our app, and at how the wider creator base is shaped, to answer one question brands keep asking us: what is a fair price for a reel?

₹3,500

the typical asking price for one Instagram reel, across 210 creators who set their own rates

3.3x

more per follower asked by creators under 10K followers than by those with 10K to 50K

81%

of 17,667 creators with a known follower count have fewer than 50,000 followers

One

A reel from a creator with 1K to 10K followers costs about ₹3,000. Past 100K followers, it is about ₹35,000.

Prices climb with audience size, but not in a straight line. Moving from the 1K to 10K group to the 10K to 50K group adds only ₹2,000 to the typical reel. The real jumps come after 50K followers.

FollowersReelPostStory
1K–10K₹3,000₹1,500₹550
10K–50K₹5,000₹3,000₹1,000
50K–100K₹12,500₹7,500₹2,500
100K+₹35,000₹7,000₹5,000

Based on 210 creators who set a reel rate on the Out of Context Marketing app. Only 18 and 15 creators sit in the two largest groups, so read those two lines as a rough guide. Six creators under 1K followers were left out of the chart for the same reason.

Two

Smaller creators ask more for every follower they have.

Divide the reel price by the follower count and the order flips. Creators under 10K followers ask a median of ₹924 per thousand followers. At 10K to 50K, that falls to ₹276. For a brand buying on follower count alone, nano creators look expensive. For a creator, it shows how much of the price is about the work, not the reach.

Based on the 147 rate-setting creators whose follower count the app read directly from Instagram. The two largest groups have 12 creators each, too few to say whether the price per follower keeps falling after 50K.

Three

More than half of creators ask under ₹5,000 for a reel.

The middle asking price is ₹3,500. Of the 210 creators, 118 ask less than ₹5,000, and 96 ask ₹3,000 or less. Only 38 ask ₹10,000 or more.

Four

A reel costs about 1.7 times a post. A story costs about a quarter of a reel.

Nine in ten creators (188 of 207) charge more for a reel than for a static post. Stories are priced as an add-on: the typical story rate is 25% of the same creator's reel rate.

Five

Two creators of the same size can ask very different prices.

Among creators with 10K to 50K followers, the cheapest tenth ask about ₹2,200 for a reel and the priciest tenth ask ₹15,000, nearly seven times as much. Follower count sets a range, not a price. Brands that only look at followers will either overpay or miss good creators who are simply modest about what they ask.

Based on 210 creators who set a reel rate. The 50K to 100K line rests on 18 creators.

Six

Size sets the price more than the city does.

We compared Delhi NCR creators with creators elsewhere in India, inside the same follower group. At 10K to 50K followers and at 50K to 100K, the typical reel price is the same in both. The one gap we saw is among the smallest creators: at 1K to 10K, Delhi NCR creators ask ₹3,000 and creators elsewhere ask ₹2,000.

10K–50K₹5,000₹5,000
50K–100K₹12,500₹12,500

Based on 209 rate-setting creators who gave a city: 65 and 41 creators in the 1K to 10K rows, 37 and 27 at 10K to 50K, and 12 and 6 at 50K to 100K. The last row is a small sample. We did not compare individual cities outside Delhi NCR because each one had too few creators.

Seven

India's creator economy is built on small creators. Eight in ten have under 50,000 followers.

Half of all creators in our network have between 1K and 10K followers. Only 3.5% have more than 100K. The creators most brands chase are a thin slice at the top of a very wide base.

Based on 17,667 creators in the Out of Context Marketing network whose follower count we hold, from creator sign-up forms and our own records.

Eight

Small creators say their reels reach beyond their followers. Bigger creators say the opposite.

We asked creators for their follower count and for the views a typical reel gets. Creators with 1K to 10K followers report a typical reel reaching about 1.15 times their follower count. From 10K followers upward, a typical reel reaches less than half of the follower count.

Based on 2,474 creators who gave both numbers on our sign-up forms. These are the creators' own figures, not measured views, so treat them as what creators believe about their reach. The 500K+ line rests on 12 creators.

Nine

Nine in ten creators who come to us for brand work are women.

Of the creators on our app who told us their gender, 90% are women (244 of 270). In the wider network the share is 93% (2,313 of 2,478). The categories they make content in follow the same pattern: lifestyle, fashion, beauty and skincare lead by a wide margin.

Based on 270 creators on the app and 2,478 in the network who gave a gender. Our creator base leans toward beauty, fashion and lifestyle, so this is a picture of who seeks brand work through us, not of every creator in India.

How we did this

Out of Context Marketing is a creator marketplace. Brands post briefs, creators apply with their own rate, and brands pick and pay creators directly. Our database covers more than 4 lakh creators and more than 8,000 brand contacts. Each finding above uses the part of that data that holds the number in question, and says how many creators it rests on.
